Manila, Philippines, Wayu Energy Pte, Ltd. announces the commissioning of 13.1 MW of solar rooftop projects with SM Prime Holdings. The projects are located on the rooftops of the following SM malls: SM Butuan, SM Bataan, SM General Santos, SM Iloilo, SM Bacolod, SM Cagayan de Oro Downtown, SM Cebu and SM Consolacion. SM is a chain of shopping malls owned by SM Prime Holdings, Inc. and operates a total of 87 malls in the Philippines.
The projects will support Wayu’s contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by generating 21,000 MWh per year, representing the energy use of around 5,800 households in the Philippines, as well as avoiding approximately 14,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions per year.

These projects were developed in conjunction with one of our local partners UGE Philippines, with whom we plan on executing additional projects across SM locations, as well as with other key clients.

Commercial and Industrial scale renewable energy projects such as these are essential components in the Philippines’ target to reduce emissions by 75% and increase the share of renewable energy in power generation to 35% by 2030.
