Wayu Acquires 12 MW Binh Hoa Solar Project in Vietnam with EVN

19 Feb 2025

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Wayu Energy Pte, Ltd. announces the acquisition of the 12 MW operational Binh Hoa solar project in An Giang province, Vietnam with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) from MXB Joint Stock Company.

The project will support Wayu’s contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by generating 16,500 MWh per year, representing the energy use of around 1,700 households in Vietnam, as well as avoiding approximately 9,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions per year.

“We are very proud of Wayu’s first acquisition in Vietnam, which represents a first step in our plans for further acquisitions in rooftop and ground mounted utility scale projects as well as investments in other renewables ventures. We are confident in Vietnam’s long-term strategy regarding renewable energy and the government’s recent efforts in making the necessary regulatory changes to nurture this bourgeoning market.” – Wassef Sawaf, Wayu CEO

Vietnam announced its goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 at COP26 in 2021.
